Tonight in Shari (Shiretoko Peninsula entrance) downtown, there was a ” Shiretoko Shari Neputa ” parade.
The roots of this kind of festival are from Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture ” Neputa ” is a large lantern of a warrior or character that is drawn by truck (or people traditonally) along the street. This kind of “electric” parade is unique to Japan.

今夜は知床半島入り口にある斜里町中心部で、「しれとこ斜里ねぷた」の行進がありました。
青森県弘前市にルーツがある「ねぷた」は、台車に乗った大きな武者絵が描いてあるランタンで、市街地を練り歩くお祭り。さながら日本古来のエレクトリックパレードのようでもあります。
明日の夜も午後7時から開催されますよ！
